Sundog, The Troublemaker Maltese (June 25, 1996 - December 7, 2004)
On December 7th, 2004, we lost our beloved Sundog.
Dear Friends,
It is with profound sadness that we break this news - our beloved Sundog passed away this morning around 9:15 AM.
He was recently diagnosed with lymphangiectasia, a condition where the body is unable to absorb protein. It is rare, even more so in Maltese. It is virtually incurable and even treatment is usually ineffective. Sunny was under the care of specialists and they made all possible efforts to save him. He spent two weeks in intensive care after undergoing exploratory surgery to diagnose his illness.
We are doing our best to count our blessings: we enjoyed his company for 8 years, his illness was short, he was not in pain, and he spent his last week at home. We named him Sunny because he was such a happy clown and that’s how we will remember him.
Your support throughout this ordeal has been very important to us. Please do not grieve for him, but celebrate his memory. Sundog brought us so much joy and helped us meet so many great people. His bright spirit truly fits this season; we must follow his example and take the time to be happy.
